- 1995, Rugged Records
This was Eli's first recording, before he took his stage name. I don't know if it's even available anymore. As far as I know, it was only sold at concerts. At the last concert I went to, they ran out of the CDs, and they only had a few of the tapes left. I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a tape. The recording quality isn't the greatest, but the music and lyrics are still powerful and uplifting. My favorite song is the joyfully jazzy "Better Day," which Eli still performs in concert. Sound clips coming soon!
AMERICA
Listen to me as I sing you my song Oh America
For I am a young man who's watching you grow everyday
And it seems that your children are looking for a Saviour America
But your doctors and lawyers and hero's have all gone away
Well I know
That there's one who loves you
He is real
And He's thinking of you
Listen to me as I pour out my heart Oh America
You won't find your answers in war or planting a tree for peace
You keep looking to the past to save you Dear America
Well that day'll never come until you look to the King of Kings
Well I know
That you've heard of Him for many years
He is real
And He'll take away your painful tears
Far away America
Far away America
Far away America
I'LL BOW DOWN
Where the waters flow I will follow
If the winds should make no sound
If no other man will worship you
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
If they say that Your a liar
If they say the worlds not round
If the green grass turns yellow
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
If the stars refuse to sparkle
If Your praises don't abound
And if all other life forsakes You, Lord
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
I'll bow down
IGNORANCE IS BLISS
Daddy is driving, the freeway is clear
Johnny does drugs though they say it's a phase
Mother is cheating with nothing to fear
And everybody is happy
Many false prophets examples are cheap
So goes our tolerance injustice prevails
But will have no part in what we cannot defeat
And everybody is happy
Why should I believe a lie
So everyone can be happy
Brothers are fighting believers at war
We stand up so righteous let liberty reign
Integrity costs though we sell it like whores
So everyone can be happy
Why should I believe a lie
So everyone can be happy
Why should I sing about a lie
So everyone can be happy
So everyone can be happy
Is everybody happy
And if everybody is so happy
Why aren't I
DADDY'S ARMS
Daddy's eyes, so proud of you
Nothing wrong with one so true
Memories of, You so bold
Now those loving arms run cold
Daddy's lies, it seems to be
The stronghold left in side of me
Years grow cold, now I'm old
This heart ache just won't let me be
with those Daddy's arms around me rescue me
With those Daddy's arms around me
Daddy don't cry, I know it wasn't I
Who's heart was meant for such a blow
We did our best, now let us rest
In the only perfect love we know
With those Daddy's arms around us rescue thee
With those Daddy's arms around us rescue thee
With those Daddy's arms around us
Daddy's eyes, so proud of you
Nothing wrong with one so true
Chorus:
With those Daddy's arms around us rescue me...
SONG FOR TERESE
You know that I worship you
With all the right things that I do
Stand in your court yards calling your name
Standing so piously
My songs of integrity
But off of my soap box I'm not the same
Would I wipe the crying eyes that cherish me
Would I honor God in secrecy with nobody watching me
With all the things I see you do
When nobody's watching you
Its always the innocent one who pays
Deep in my shadow you live
To me and to others you give
A guardian angel your one and the same
Would I wipe the crying eyes that cherish me
Would I honor God just like you do in secrecy
Would I guide a path for a man who's blind
Could you lay your hands on this heart of mine
The Lord must be so proud of you
With all the things I put you through
He looks down from heaven and whispers your name
DANIEL
Daniel he laughs, doesn't complain
Sits in the grass, watches us play
No one takes time, to hear what he says
So he says with his heart what he can't with his head
If ever a man had a reason to hate
To curse his creator for his mistake
His singing may not be so desired
But God is so inspired
And so it is, we call out your name
We give you our list, we complain and complain
This world is unfair, we don't like this trial
It would do us some good stay with Daniel a while
If ever a man had a reason to hate
To curse his creator for his mistake
His singing may not be so desired
But God is so inspired
Daniel will dance, sing to the Lord
Louder than angels, a thousand or more
This voice of a man, it cuts to your soul
His body is broken his spirit is whole
If ever a man had a reason to hate
To curse his creator for his mistake
His singing may not be so desired
But God is so inspired
If ever a man had a reason to hate
To curse his creator for his mistake
His singing may not be so desired
But God is so inspired
BOUND FOR GLORY
or THIS TRAIN
Got a board a train
Rollin' down the track
Leavin' my old live behind and I'm
Never lookin' back
To much time to think about
Things that I've done wrong
I'm headed for a better day so
Train, roll on...
This train is bound for glory
This train shelters all my tears
This train, it tells my story
Why don't you walk away from fear
You don't need it here
People getting off this train is a
Sight you always see
New faces come aboard and
Want to talk to me
They don't understand
I'm staying on this track till I
hit the promise land
Oh, sometimes I think back
On these old familiar ways
But then I look ahead to that new track
How I thank You, Lord for all of my days
This train is bound for glory
This train shelters all my tears
This train, it tells my story
Why don't you walk away from here
The Lord, He can't use it here
This train, this train
This train is bound for glory
This train is bound for glory
SOMETIMES
Living in this world so long
Just to find someone who cares
Remove our masks and play our songs
But nobody dares
As if everyday was Christmas Eve
Well tomorrow hope will come
You give me reasons to believe
Show me the way, oh, I don't always know the answer
Hold me close cause sometimes I cry
Take me to Your happy ever after
Like pillars on the solid ground You reach right down
To something deep inside
Feelings that I've never found
I just can't hide
Although our woes be many
Although we might feel pain
I'll stand right by your side, My Lord
Show me the way, oh, I don't always know the answer
Hold me close cause sometimes I cry
Take me to Your happy ever after
Oh, Love is so worth fighting for
These words cannot explain
Oh, God, Your love is so worth dying for
Although our woes be many
Although we might feel pain
I'll stand right by your side, My Lord
Show me the way, oh, I don't always know the answer
Hold me close cause sometimes I cry
Take me to Your happy ever after
SAY A PRAYER
Night grows cold
Dark clouds are overhead
Spending another night
No place to rest my head
I knew you long ago
In a vision or in my dreams
But like a lamb wanders from its fold
Falling pray to subtle schemes
Off in the distance see a light
Burning candle that flickers in the night
Oh God, say a prayer for me
When will my shepherd come
And save me from my deeds
Holy Father, please shine your light on me
It's been so long
Since I've heard His gentle voice
But following my own needs
Well I made my choice
The grass is greener
Well at least that's what they say
But all I've found were rocks and stone
I haven't seen the light of day
Confusion is what I've brought so far
Faded memories of who you really are
Oh God, say a prayer for me
When will my shepherd come
And save me from my deeds
Holy Father, please shine your light on me
Washed down from Golgotha
Still dripping with blood
All your words come back to me
Emotions like a flood
Promised I've make to you and the
Promises that you kept
It's got me on my knees
I pleaded as I wept
Oh, God, say a prayer for me
Bring down your mercy and grace
A lamp that I might see
Holy Father, please shine your light on me
BETTER DAY/HAPPY JESUS SONG
Taxes on the front steps
Sickness around the corner
Like a bad day made to order
But, Lord, I've learned to praise You
Hands I humbly raise You
Singin's all that I can do
Sweet Jesus show your child the way
Well there's gotta be a better day
At the end I see the light
Sweet Jesus show your child the way
Well there's gotta be a better day
At the end I see the light
Taxes on the front steps
Sickness around the corner
Like a bad day made to order
But, Lord, I've learned to praise You
Hands I humbly raise You
Singin's all that I can do
Sweet Jesus show your child the way
Well there's gotta be a better day
At the end I see the light
And when the devil comes at me
I slap this guitar on my knee
Your Spirit helps me find my way
Well there's gotta be a better day
